Summary:

This invention is a device that can be incoporated into a garment and claims to dissipate the force of an impact and prevent injury to hips and/or other bones of the wearer. The said device comprises an outer layer of substituted poly-?-olefin and substituted polynitrile rubber; an inner layer of substituted poly alpha olefin and nitrite substituted rubber composition and an adhesive to bond the layers together. It is disclosed that during the development of this device, tests were carried out by dropping the said device from various heights, on films of Fujifilm Prescale®, to ascertain the force and area of impact. An impact causes a color change in Fujifilm Prescale®. The force of impact was calculated from the color intensity by comparing the color to a color chart and/or through optical imaging. The area and shape of impact were ascertained from the colored patch formed on the film of the Fujifilm Prescale®.
