This invention relates to absorbent articles for feminine hygiene, capable of changing color in response to external stimuli like pressure, temperature and light. These color changes are visible to the users of such articles. In one of the embodiments of this invention, Pressurex®, of Sensor Products Inc., was incorporated in the peripheral edge of the secondary topsheet of a sanitary napkin in a continuous 3 mm wide stripe. Pressurex® contains a piezochromic dye and responds to changes in pressure.
