Summary:

The present invention discloses a thermal transfer receiving sheet, comprising a hollow particle-containing intermediate layer between a sheet-like support and an image receiving layer, suitable for use in a dye thermal transfer printer. In this publication, it is disclosed that various embodiments of the claimed thermal transfer receiving sheet were prepared and evaluated. One such evaluation included using the ‘receiving sheet’ of this invention in a commercially available thermal transfer video printer (M1, trade name, manufactured by Sony Corp.), a process wherein the ‘receiving sheet’ is fed through a set of rolls. In the said evaluation, it was observed that the nip pressure of the transporting roll was elevated. The said nip pressure was measured by using Fujifilm Prescale® and was observed to be 50 kg/cm2.
