Summary:

This invention is a headgear assembly for holding in place, a respiratory mask or such other patient interface, on a patient’s face. The headgear device is strapped to the patient’s face and tightened to achieve required tension. In order to avoid application of excessive pressure, it is desired to include a pressure indicator within the device. In one of its embodiments, Pressurex® tactile force indicating film, from Sensor Products Inc., is located between the rim and cushion/seal of the mask. The film changes color according to the pressure exerted on the seal when the headgear is tightened or otherwise adjusted. In this manner, the film indicates if excessive pressure is experienced between the mask rim and the seal.
