Sensor Film Solves Pressure Problem for Load Cell Maker
When Futek recently experienced difficulty assembling some of its load cells to spec, the company used Pressurex pressure sensors from Sensor Products to find out why. They learned that in some production runs, clamping pressure for the adhesive used to bond metal foil strain gauges to the sensors ranged from 50-200 psi, instead of the required 50-75 psi. The discovery led to the redesign of some clamps for better pressure control.
"A sample pack of Pressurex with film that revealed different surface pressure ranges (see photo) allowed our production to continue," reports Futek Mechanical Engineer James Meiselbach.
